Apple's latest iPhone 14 device family, announced during the "Far Out" event in September 2022, has been on the shelves for nearly half an year already, currently at the middle of its shelf lifecycle. The newest iPhone generation consists of four models: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The absence of a "mini" model this year is noteworthy; it has been replaced by the bigger iPhone 14 Plus. It shares components with the ordinary iPhone 14, but has a significantly bigger 6.7-inch display, making it a more accessible alternative of the more costly and premium iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14-series was announced at September 7, 2022, at Apple’s “Far Out” event, which took place earlier than usual (normally, Apple hosts its iPhone announcement events on the second Tuesday of September, which would have been September 13 this year).

Pre-orders for the iPhone 14 series will open in a couple of days’ time, on September 9. The iPhone 14 will be released to the market on September 16, 2022. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Plus will be available on October 7.

Despite the rumors for a price hike across the board, Apple kept the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus starting prices at $799 and $899, respectively, while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max didn't score any price increases either, starting at $999 and $1099.

Apple iPhone 14 colors
This year, Apple refreshed the iPhone 14 colors. Green and blue are out, at least on the Pro series, while the regular iPhones lose the pink in favor of a score a slightly darker shade of violet. Just like in 2022, Apple announced a new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus color in 2023 - yellow. However, we didn't get a new color option for the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

As traditionally doesn't disclose battery sizes, but these were quickly unraveled after the phones hit the shelves.

As you can see, it's a toss-up between the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The more affordable model has better audio playback endurance, but the premium iPhone 14 Pro Max has better video playback battery life. It will be very interesting to see how these two compare in terms of real-life usage.

The maximum wired charging is up to 27W for all four models, with up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes. MagSafe is present on all four new models as Apple is continuing to build up the MagSafe ecosystem. The wireless charging is capped up to 15W.
